Ferrante's Fig and Onion Crostini

1 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup Ferrante Vidal Blanc Ice Wine, plus 2 Tbsp
2 Tbsp water
1/4 cup Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
1 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup dried figs, chopped
1 loaf baguette bread sliced on a slant in 1/2"-wide slices (16-17 pcs.)

Preparation

1) Preheat oven to 350*F
2) In a large skillet, melt butter with olive oil over medium heat; add sliced onion and sautee for 15-20 minutes until carmelized.  Do not brown the onions.  Cool.
3) In a small skillet, add chopped dried figs and 1/2 cup wine; cook over medium-low heat for 10-12 minutes.
4) Transfer fig mixture to food processor, add remaining 2 Tbsp of wine and water and blend until smooth.
5) Place bread on ungreased cookie sheet and equally divide carmelized onionns, fig mixture and Gorgonzola.
6) Bake at 350* for 8-10 minutes
