Step aside, Napa. America’s got a new favorite producer of white wines -- OHIO.

Ferrante’s 2008 Signature Series Pinot Grigio (GRV) was awarded “Best of Show” White Wine in the American Fine Wine Competition, January 17-18, 2010 in West Palm Beach, Florida

We edged out some of the best-known wineries in the U.S., such as Cosentino in Napa Valley, and Carneros region Rombauer and Domaine Carneros.

Entry into this prestigious competion is by invitation only and strictly limited to American-made wines that meet a certain retail threshold in order to be considered “fine” wines.

Our award-winning Pinot Grigio will be featured at a gala dinner March 13 at the Lincoln Culinary Institute in West Palm Beach prepared by notable South Florida chefs, including Johnny Vinczencz, Michael Wagner and Oliver Saucy. Nick, our winemaker, plans to be there.

Our Pinot Grigio is grown in our estate vineyards here in the Grand River Valley and finished at 1 percent residual sugar.  Nick says  its aromas and flavors of creamy citrus notes are balanced with fresh acidity.  The 2008 growing season played a big role in this wine’s success. Nick says it was just the perfect recipe for a great Pinot Grigio because the summer was above normal in temperature but cool enough to ripen Pinot Gris at optimal fruit ripeness.

We invite you to enjoy this extremely special wine when you visit us and to pick some up to enjoy at home.  It's being featured in special food and wine pairings at our restaurant and is on sale for $12.99 a bottle (normally $14.99) in our gift shop and in stores throughout Ohio.
