Three-course Italian dinner paired with wines throughout April
Harpersfield Township, Ohio – (April 8, 2009) – Ferrante Winery & Ristorante invites to you to “Taste the Flavors of Italy” with its featured wines and special three-course Italian dinner throughout the month of April, and at the “Around the World in the Grand River Valley Wine Region” day-long event, Saturday, April 25.
Inspired by a trip to the Alto Adige region of Northern Italy by Winemaker Nicholas Ferrante, the Vino della Casa White is comparable to the wines produced in this region. Its off-dry blend of Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and Vidal Blanc has an aromatic nose and tropical tree fruit flavors. The red wines of Piedmont are reminiscent of the Vino della Casa Red vinted with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Carignone. This robust-berried aromatic wine has flavors of soft fruit with a smooth finish. These brother and sister wines, produced in honor of visionary Peter Sr. and his wife Josephine's 50th wedding anniversary, share a label with a picture of the Ferrante's hometown of Ripalimosani, Italy. Five Grand River Valley Wineries will present European-style wines matched with European cuisines from 12-5 pm on Saturday, April 25. For just $5 per person at each winery, guests will enjoy an appetizer from the winery’s designated country paired with an Ohio Grand River Valley wine. Ferrante is proudly presenting the cuisine of Italy and will serve Mushroom Risotto with sausage and peas, paired with Ferrante’s Vino della Casa Red and Vino della Casa White. The other participating wineries are Debonne Vineyards (Slovenia), Grand River Cellars (Ireland), Laurello Vineyards (Sicily), and St. Joseph Vineyards (Germany). Three generations of the Ferrante family, 19 people altogether, toured Italy in 2005, with visits to Rome, Venice, Tuscany and their ancestral home of Ripalimosani in the southern Italian region of Molise. The once-in-a-lifetime trip is the inspiration behind the “Taste the Flavors of Italy” prix-fixe meal offered Friday and Saturday evenings and all day Sunday in April, featuring an appetizer, entrée and dessert, each paired with a Ferrante Signature Series wine, all for only $42.99 per couple (tax and gratuity excluded).
